Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Project Manager to join our Power Delivery team. The role focuses on managing substations from scope through closeout, mentoring engineers and staff, and ensuring quality across domestic and international projects.

Preferred locations include Missoula and other western cities, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, client relations, and business development in the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, related field or equivalent experience.
• FE, PE license preferred, PMP in lieu of PE.
• 2+ years of project management experience.
• Experience with system projection and planning, communication, distribution, and transmission lines, and public involvement, environmental permitting, and real estate acquisition are a plus.
• Ability to interact with various design teams and strong organizational, project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage Substation projects of all sizes from scope to closeout.
• Lead project engineers, EITs, Coordinators, Designers, CADD Technicians, and administrative staff.
• Oversee workload, schedule, quality, utilization, morale, and performance.
• Oversee non-engineering components such as public engagement, permitting, right of way acquisition, and construction management.
• Lead QA/QC per HDR’s QMS requirements to exceed client quality expectations.
• Support client management and business development activities in the region and beyond.
• Coordinate with Area/Regional leadership and Talent Acquisition to build a team.
• Workshare with staff across multiple offices to execute projects.
• Represent HDR in marketing and proposal development for new opportunities.
