Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Project Engineer to join our national team of Power Delivery professionals. This role offers opportunities in multiple preferred locations including Missoula, MT, with a focus on substations up to 765kV and related design activities.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, PE license, and experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector, plus expertise with PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe and Revit. Travel may be needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
Experience with PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and electrical design software.
Willingness to travel.
Active participation in an employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

Support preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets and ensure schedules and budgets are met.
Understand substation design including grounding, protection, and control systems.
Prepare calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lightning protection, load studies).
Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and testing.
Coordinate design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission.
Communicate and coordinate project activities with manager, clients, and others.
Mentor and supervise junior engineers and designers.
