Job summary

The Non-Traditional Peer Mentor at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point supports students by building belonging, providing resources through mentorship, and organizing social and professional development activities.

This role reports to the NTSS Coordinator, offers 6-8 hours weekly, and emphasizes inclusivity, with opportunities to engage commuter and transfer students while supporting their transition to campus life.

Qualifications

• Support non-traditional, commuter, and transfer students in their transition to UWSP.
• Promote inclusivity and a sense of belonging within SET.
• Preference for work-study students, but work-study is not required.

Responsibilities

• Meet bi-weekly with the NTSS staff.
• Assist assigned students: one-on-one or small groups, outreach via Navigate.
• Represent SET and UWSP with professionalism.
• Available to work 6-8 hours per week between 8am-8pm, with weekend coverage as needed.
• Ask students to sign in on kiosk to maintain attendance records.
• Maintain the center/office space organization at all times.
• Schedule meetings with the Coordinator as needed.
• Create, manage, and execute programming focusing on social justice, advocacy, community development, education, training, and related topics.
• Promote the goals of SET and UWSP.
• Clerical tasks of answering calls, emails, and other tasks as assigned.
