Texas Wesleyan University seeks a PEER MENTOR (Undergraduate Student Position) to empower peers with study skills, persistence, accountability, and integrity. The role fosters leadership, supports navigating campus life, and enhances academic growth through active mentoring and collaboration.

The student mentor will meet with peers, design study groups, and share campus resources while maintaining confidentiality and FERPA compliance.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment as a student in good standing with a GPA near 3.0.
• Completion of at least 15 credit hours at Texas Wesleyan University; faculty recommendation for social and communication skills and capacity to mentor peers with compassion and ethics.
• Experience mentoring peers or tutoring is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with assigned students outside of class and in the Peer Mentoring Studio.
• Design and host study groups in the PM Studio.
• Disseminate helpful information to peers and communicate strategies for academic success.
• Create web content, social media posts, data entry, and documentation in spreadsheets for records of student contact.
• Attend training sessions with faculty supervisor and participate in staff meetings.
