Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Manager on Duty to oversee the Non-Food Department and the total store when designated. You will ensure efficient inventory, attractive merchandise presentation, and top-notch customer service while protecting company assets.

Responsibilities include cash handling, reporting, staff training, scheduling coverage, and safeguarding store operations. Previous lead experience in retail preferred; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of retail clerk experience.
• Understand plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Ability to perform cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Manage Non-Food Department and total store when designated as Manager on duty.
• Authorize refunds and overrides; count register and deposit money in bank.
• Maintain cash accountability and security practices to protect company assets.
• Provide training to employees and assist in scheduling coverage.
• Ensure merchandise is presented according to established standards and plans.
• Oversee receiving, stocking, pricing, and shelf organization for efficient stock flow.
• Direct and assist associates in unloading trucks and rotating perishable items.
• Ensure safety meetings and a clean, organized store environment.
