Job summary

Consumers Energy in Jackson, Michigan, seeks a Network Operations/Systems Technician for a contract role through Magnit. Fully onsite with 2nd (3:30 PM–11:30 PM) and 3rd (11:30 PM–7:30 AM) shifts available. 3 openings.

You will monitor networks, servers, and applications, respond to alerts, and coordinate with internal teams and vendors to restore service quickly. Responsibilities include L1 triage, SOP improvements for NOC operations, and creating/assigning tickets, while staying current with

Qualifications

• 2 years of IT experience is required.
• 5+ years of IT experience is preferred.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA are highly desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor network systems, servers, and applications for performance issues.
• Respond to alerts and troubleshoot network, system, and application issues to minimize downtime.
• Perform L1 triage for detected issues with network devices and core IT infrastructure.
• Participate in the development and implementation of network maintenance and upgrades.
• Create, prioritize, and assign trouble tickets to the correct workgroups, ensuring timely resolution.
• Escalate critical issues to the appropriate teams and communicate updates to stakeholders in real time via multiple channels.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve network and system issues in a timely manner.
• Create solutions using monitoring and automation tools to proactively detect and address network and infrastructure issues.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for NOC operations.
• Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and advancements in network technology.
• Work on shifts that are outside of normal business hours to ensure that the team can operate 24 hours 7 days per week.
