Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an experienced retail leader to oversee day-to-day store operations, mentor staff, and drive excellent customer service and sales while maintaining company standards.

The role includes staffing, training, and ensuring safety across departments to deliver a superior shopping experience. Successful candidates will have 1+ year of management experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions; teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Mentor team members across hourly positions and leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Ensure staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote customer service excellence and achieve sales while controlling shrink and meeting P&L goals.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales targets and uphold Meijer standards.
• Ensure team is thoroughly trained and has completed required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain store appearance during prime hours.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
