Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Part-time Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at American Fork Hospital to provide advanced cardiopulmonary care under physician orders. The role includes interpreting diagnostic tests, arterial blood gas analysis, medication administration, and collaboration with the care team to improve patient outcomes.

The position requires NBRC-approved RT training, RRT credential, state license, and BLS certification, with PALS/ACLS/NRP as required.

Qualifications

• NBRC approved RT program completed at an accredited institution.
• Registered by NBRC as an RRT.
• Current license as Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• PALS/ACLS/NRP certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures per protocol. Obtains arterial blood gases and ensures equipment operates for optimal patient care.
• Administers medications safely and timely; evaluates effects and re-evaluates as per protocol; communicates patient progress to staff and physicians.
• Maintains awareness of patient condition; communicates with physicians and nurses; recommends appropriate care; educates patients and families on self-care.
• Completes documentation per department standards; tracks productivity; monitors supplies and equipment; reports issues as needed.
• Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives; contributes ideas in meetings; supports quality improvement and research activities.
• Promotes Respiratory Care profession; acts as resource/mentor to staff; may float to other departments as needed; may be on-call during scheduled shifts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

NBRC approved Respiratory Therapist program

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Current license as Registered Respiratory Therapist in state of practice

Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers

PALS, ACLS, NRP certifications
