Qualifications

• Graduate of a NBRC approved Respiratory Therapist program is required.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).
• Current license as Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers is required.
• Specific certifications as required (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP) is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol.
• Obtains arterial gases and oversees equipment operation for patient care.
• Administers medications safely and evaluates effect with re-evaluation as needed.
• Maintains awareness of patient condition and communicates with physicians and nurses.
• Documents activities according to departmental standards and manages supplies.
