Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing required (BSN preferred).
• Current registered nurse’s license in the State of Texas required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification within six (6) months of hire.
• Cross training to like areas may be required.
• Willingness to be trained for charge nurse.
• Willingness to become a preceptor after two years of nursing experience.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English –verbal and written and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Perform family-centered nursing care through the nursing process.
• Implement physician’s orders in a safe and accurate manner.
• Assist with admitting, discharging and transferring patients.
• Transcribe and implement new physician orders.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of nursing actions.
• Provide health counseling and education to patients and families.
• Make rounds on assigned patients and prioritize needs.
• Administer medications and therapies within scope of practice.
• Coordinate patient care plans with the care team.
• Ensure care is delivered according to Texas Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards.
