Job summary

Requires Texas RN license, ACLS/NIHSS/TNCC/TCAR within set timeframes, and cross-training readiness. Candidate should have BSN preferred, strong English communication, and be able to train for charge nurse and precept after two years.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current Texas RN license required.
• ACLS certification within six months of hire.
• NIHSS certification within six months of hire.
• TNCC/TCAR within six months of hire.
• ENLS certification preferred for NSICU.
• Cross training to like areas.
• Willingness to be trained for charge nurse.
• Willingness to become a preceptor after two years of nursing experience.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English – verbal and written and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Implements physician orders safely and accurately.
• Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring patients.
• Transcribes and implements new physician orders.
• Reports and documents nursing actions accurately.
• Provides education to patients and families.
• Maintains unit readiness and safety.
• Coordinates care with multidisciplinary team.
• Provides direction to non-licensed staff in patient care.
