Job summary

HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital is seeking an Assistant Manager-Nursing to support the Med Surg unit in Springfield, IL.

Under Nursing leadership, you will oversee patient care, staffing, workflow development, and performance improvement initiatives to drive high-quality outcomes. The role requires RN licensure, at least 2 years as a staff nurse in an acute setting, and leadership experience; a BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required and licensure in the state of practice; BSN preferred.
• 2 years staff nurse (RN) experience in an acute setting is required; 2 years in a charge/lead role preferred.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state of practice; BLS required; ACLS may be required where necessary.

Responsibilities

• Oversee unit/department functions including patient care, hiring, transferring, performance improvement, and assigning duties.
• Develops workflows and prepares operational reports for the department/unit.
• Assists in supervision of unit staff and serves as champion for patient care.
• Collaborates with care team providers to ensure excellence in patient care.
