Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health’s Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is seeking a Cardio Thoracic ICU RN for per diem night shifts. The role requires strong assessment skills, collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and a dedication to evidence-based care.

You will provide safe medications and hands-on care, document in EPIC EMR, participate in rounds, and educate patients and families. NJ RN license, BLS, and ICU exposure are required or preferred as noted.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required; CCRN preferred.
• ASN in Nursing is required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year hospital experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC) is required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, patients and families.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and providers for timely, coordinated care decisions.
• Educate patients and families for the next phase of care.
• Document accurately in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to support smooth transitions.
