Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for 12X3 Night shifts. You will perform ABG and PFT analyses, provide ventilator and oxygen therapy, and care for adults and neonates under supervision of the medical director.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, BLS/ACLS, NBRC registration, Texas license, and 6 months of experience, with NICU experience preferred. This role supports patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.
• NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol/humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance and chest physiotherapy.
• Perform prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs and ECGs.
• Prepare treatment evaluations with bedside assessment and patient history.
• Apply critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assemble, check, operate and troubleshoot oxygen analyzers and ventilators and related equipment.
• participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Provide appropriate scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
