Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for the overnight shift to monitor and support patients on mechanical ventilation, perform bronchodilator therapy, and assist with procedures under physician supervision. The role requires an active MA respiratory license and NBRC RRT credential, with a 40-hour week and a possible $10,000 sign-on bonus for external hires.

Qualifications

• Current MA respiratory license.
• New graduates have 2 months after hire date to become a registered respiratory therapist as a condition of employment/termination of employment.
• Current NBRC registration – Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential for new hires.
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent in Respiratory Care.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation certification – Memorial Campus.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supports patients on mechanical ventilation. Provides respiratory support and CPR as required.
• Assists physician/anesthesia during intubations and during bronchoscopy procedures as needed.
• Establishes treatment plans and modifies therapy per department protocols for bronchodilator therapy and chest physiotherapy.
• Obtains arterial blood gases and performs blood draws for gas analysis.
• Sets up and monitors ventilatory equipment and oxygen delivery devices.
• Coordinates and maintains difficult airway carts and high-risk airway patient assessments.
• Performs resting and trending pulse oximetry as required.
