Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for the Night Shift to monitor and support patients on mechanical ventilation, provide respiratory care, and assist in airway management across campus locations.

The ideal candidate holds a MA respiratory license, NBRC RRT credential, and an Associate degree in Respiratory Care. A $10,000 signing bonus is available for external hires; schedule includes 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM with every other weekend and 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Current MA respiratory license.
• New graduates have 2 months after hire date to become a registered respiratory therapist as a condition of employment/termination of employment.
• NBRC credential required; continuing competency program and renewal are expected.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supports patients on mechanical ventilation; provides respiratory support and CPR as required.
• Assists physicians during intubations and bronchoscopies; supports airway management at the bedside.
• Establishes treatment plans and modifies therapy per department protocols.
• Obtains arterial blood gases and draws blood samples for gas analysis.
• Sets up ventilators and oxygen delivery; monitors oxygen therapy equipment.
• Coordinates and maintains difficult airway carts and participates on code airway team.
• Performs resting and trending pulse oximetry as needed.
