Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Respiratory Care required.
• NBRC RRT credential required.
• Massachusetts State Respiratory Care License required.
• BLS Certification required.
• ACLS certification required within 3 months of employment.
• NRP certification required within 3 months of employment.
• PALS certification required within 3 months of employment.
• Valid and unrestricted MA driver’s license with access to insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Works as part of a team to ensure optimal patient care.
• Reviews EMR for history, reason for admission, labs and orders.
• Administers aerosolized medications.
• Draws and analyzes arterial blood gases; reports critical values.
• Consults with physicians on therapy types, duration and dosages.
• Monitors physiological responses to therapy and communicates with physicians.
• Provides emergency care including intubation assistance and rapid response.
• Maintains and tests respiratory therapy equipment.
• Demonstrates procedures to staff, patients, and families.
• Supervises respiratory therapy students and provides guidance to personnel.
• Operates oxygen therapy devices, ventilators, CPAP/Bi-level support, NIPPV, and high-flow therapy.
• Maintains patient and department records in EMR/MAR; follows med administration policy.
• Participates in quality assurance programs.
• Maintains knowledge of current respiratory care techniques.
