Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to monitor patients on mechanical ventilation, provide respiratory support, and assist with procedures at the bedside. You will collaborate with physicians and the anesthesia team, adjust therapy per protocols, and ensure safe, effective care.

The position requires current MA respiratory licensure, NBRC RRT, an Associate degree in Respiratory Care, and BCLS; ACLS/NRP may be preferred.

Qualifications

• Current MA respiratory license.
• Must obtain NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Associate degree or equivalent in Respiratory Care.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supports patients on mechanical ventilation and provides respiratory care.
• Assists physicians/anesthesia during intubations and procedures at bedside.
• Establishes treatment plans and adjusts therapy per department protocols.
• Obtains arterial blood gases and analyzes samples for gas exchange.
• Sets up ventilators and monitors oxygen delivery and airway equipment.
• Coordinates and maintains difficult airway carts and responds to airway emergencies.
