Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support patients on mechanical ventilation and provide cardiopulmonary care. You will work nights, with a 12-hour shift, on a cross-campus basis across the UMass Memorial Health system.

Eligible external candidates may receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus; the role requires active MA licensure, NBRC RRT credential, and BLS/Neonatal Resuscitation certifications. Associates degree in Respiratory Care is required.

Qualifications

• Current MA respiratory license.
• New graduates have 2 months after hire date to become a registered respiratory therapist.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required for new hires.
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent in Respiratory Care.
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation certification – Memorial Campus.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supports patients on mechanical ventilation and provides respiratory support.
• Assists physicians during intubations and bronchoscopies.
• Sets up treatment plans and modifies therapy per department protocols.
• Obtains arterial blood gases and draws blood for gas analysis.
• Sets up and monitors ventilators and oxygen delivery equipment.
• Coordinates and maintains difficult airway carts and airway management readiness.
• Performs resting and trending pulse oximetry as needed.
