Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the 12x3 night shift to provide advanced respiratory care. You will perform ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, and oxygen therapy for adults and neonates under indirect supervision, ensuring high-quality care aligned with hospital policies.

The role requires an accredited Respiratory Care Program graduate, BLS/ACLS certifications, NBRC registration, Texas license, and at least six months of experience; NICU experience

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board in good standing.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Minimum 6 months of respiratory care experience.
• NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Performs appropriate actions using critical thinking skills.
• Interprets chest X-ray, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient info.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots all cardiopulmonary equipment (airways, ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, gas analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance activities.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

NRP and PALS (must obtain within 1 year of hire)

Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care

Respiratory care experience (min 6 months)

NICU experience preferred
