Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the 12x3 Night shift. The role involves ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, and neonatal/adult respiratory care under supervision.

The RRT should be able to care for patients of all ages and respect diverse needs. Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, BLS and ACLS, NBRC registry, Texas license, 6 months of experience, and NICU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.
• NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, humidification and airway management.
• Conduct arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry and pulmonary function studies as prescribed.
• Prepare treatment evaluations from patient assessments and medical records.
• Utilize critical thinking for appropriate actions and interventions.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT results in patient data.
• Assemble, operate and troubleshoot cardiopulmonary equipment and devices.
• Participate in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Maintain and clean cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Provide effective patient communication to enhance satisfaction.
