Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to deliver bedside care and assist with daily activities such as meals, hygiene, mobility, and linen changes. The PCA will support the bedside RN by taking vital signs and communicating changes promptly, while ensuring patient safety with gait belts and alarms.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
• Ability to maintain concentration under interruptions and variable noise levels and manage a high workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, encourage walking, assist with baths, and provide clean linens and gowns.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms and stay within arm's reach during movement.
