Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care and enhance the patient experience. You will assist with meals, hydration, dressings, mobility, baths, and linen changes while supporting the bedside RN with vital signs and rapid reporting of changes.

The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and compassionate, communicative care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high workload and priorities with limited time.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks and assist with meal ordering and intake.
• Encourage walking and assist with baths and linen changes.
• Provide clean linens and gowns to patients.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the bedside RN.
• Support safety with gait belts and alarms, staying within reach.
