Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Patient Safety Observer for the Emergency Department to support patient safety and daily living activities. The role includes observation and assistance with ambulation, feeding and repositioning under nursing supervision.

The position is non-exempt with a 32-hour weekly schedule, night shift 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, on-site in the Emergency Room. CPR certification within 6 months of hire and a high school diploma are required; prior healthcare

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains good human relations with patients and families.
• Monitors for suicidal or violent behavior and ensures patient safety.
• Maintains 15-minute checks with documentation.
• Assists with patient mobility and daily living activities as directed.
• Reports issues to licensed staff and follows nurse directions.
