Job summary

IU Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCA) for a full-time night role. The PCA provides bedside care, helps with daily living activities, meals, mobility, and safety near the patient. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to coordinate with the RN and care team.

The role includes observing patients, reporting changes, and assisting with linen changes and hygiene. Completion of the IU Health PCA program or BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support certification (AHA) or completion of IU Health PCA program.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate patient care.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards in patient care.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain concentration with interruptions and noise.
• Ability to perform basic math and read scales.
• Ability to organize tasks and manage high workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living, mobility assistance, and ensure patient safety.
• Assist with meals, drinks, bathing, linen changes, and gown changes.
• Observe patients continuously and report abnormalities to RN or charge nurse.
• Assist with gait, transfers, and maintain patient safety using equipment as needed.
• Support care team under RN supervision in a fast-paced hospital setting.
