Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for a full-time night shift to deliver compassionate bedside care and support to the patient care team. The PCA assists with activities of daily living, mobility, and positioning, while aiding the RN with vital signs and rapid response to changes in patient condition.

Qualified candidates will have BLS certification, knowledge of age-appropriate care, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Knowledge of infection control principles and procedures.
• Ability to organize tasks and manage a high workload with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living and mobility assistance to designated patients.
• Assist bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities or changes.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms and staying within arm's reach.
• Provide clean linens and gowns and support the patient care team under RN supervision.
