Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the 7 PM–7 AM shift on a 24-bed advanced heart failure unit in Norfolk, VA. You will support RN staff with daily living activities, monitoring, and routine procedures in a high-acuity cardiac environment.

Expect to work 36 hours/week with rotating weekends. A CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent certification is required, plus Basic Life Support within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program or CNA/NCMA/NCPCT/NC/Misc credentials accepted.
• Basic Life Support certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including activities of daily living and vital signs.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and phlebotomy.
• Perform EKG testing and point-of-care testing.
• Collect specimens and remove peripheral IVs as directed.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and removal; document patient status.
