Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Nurse- level Patient Care Technician for the Mental Health Nursing Unit. This full-time, night shift (12-hour) position runs 7:00pm–7:00am with three shifts per week and rotating weekends.

The PCT assists with daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG, and specimen collection under RN direction. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or Equivalent and completion of a recognized CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or military medical program,

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent and one of: CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical program in progress, or recent PCT/Nursing Assistant work.
• Certification: BLS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKG testing, and IV removal as directed.
