Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA seeks a Patient Care Technician to assist in a 36-hour weekly night shift (7PM–7AM) on a high-acuity cardiac unit. You’ll perform patient care, essential daily activities, vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKGs, and maintain safety under an RN. Training and certification paths are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Certification options include Sentara Care Partner, CNA/NCMA/NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, or current clinical student with RN/LPN/RT/PT background.
• Basic Life Support Certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assistance with activities of daily living.
• Monitor patient conditions and document changes accurately.
• Support RN with care plans and safety protocols.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKGs, and point-of-care testing.
• Manage mobility, ambulation, and Foley catheter procedures as needed.
