Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Transitional Care Unit. This full-time role operates on a night shift (7 PM–7 AM) with three 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends.

The PCT will provide direct patient care, assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, and perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection under RN supervision. CNAs and other certified staff are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent preferred.
EMR/EMS/EMT/Paramedic experience considered for eligibility.
PCT or Nursing Assistant background within last 3 years preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care and support activities of daily living.
Monitor vital signs and observe patient conditions.
Assist with mobility, ambulation, and safety.
Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing.
Collect specimens and manage Foley catheter insertion/removal.
Document accurately and communicate changes to RN.”],
