Job summary

Sentara Health in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support patient care on a high-acuity cardiac unit during the night shift. Responsibilities include daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, specimen collection, and assistance with procedures under the direction of an RN.

Requires HS diploma or equivalent and relevant certifications; BLS within 90 days. The 36-hour weekly schedule runs 7 PM–7 AM with rotating weekends, on a 24-bed unit recognized for excellence.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Certification options include CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related nursing assistant credentials.
• Emergent care training such as EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Take vital signs, mobility assistance, and specimen collection as directed by RN.
• Assist with phlebotomy, EKG testing, and basic procedures as trained.

Education

HS Diploma or Equivalent

NCP/Nursing Care Partner or CNA/NCMA/NCPCT Certification

EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic training
