Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Short Stay unit. This part-time night shift (7 PM–7 AM) includes two 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends.

The role involves patient care, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, IV removal, and specimen collection under RN supervision. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant certification such as CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps School, with BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related program or current RN/LPN/RT/PT student eligible.
• One year health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient status.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and patient safety.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, and specimen collection.
