Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Cooley Dickinson Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) to perform direct and non-direct patient care, including routine nursing tasks and clerical duties. The role may involve 1:1 observation for patient safety and requires BLS certification, acute care exposure, and strong multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant certification or nursing student with 6 months clinical experience required
• 6 months to 1 year nursing assistant experience required
• One to three years secretarial experience preferred
• Health care experience preferred
• Ability to multi-task and handle stress effectively required
• Demonstrated typing skills and computer experience required
• Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills required
• Communication ability and ability to follow written/oral instructions required
• Teamwork and professional demeanor required

Responsibilities

• Perform direct and non-direct patient care duties as assigned
• Handle clerical, supply and messenger tasks as needed
• Serve as patient care observer in 1:1 monitoring situations when required
• Maintain competency in telemetry monitoring for the CCU/telemetry unit
• Report to the Nurse Manager and follow departmental policies
• Demonstrate ability to interact effectively with individuals at various levels
