Job summary

Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) to perform direct and non-direct patient care duties, including routine nursing assistance, clerical tasks, supply duties, and unit support.

The PCA may assist with patient safety as a 1:1 observer when required and will work within telemetry/cardiac care needs. This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit, reports to the Nurse Manager, and requires high school diploma, BLS certification, and nursing-related

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Ability to perform routine patient care activities under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.
• Nursing Assistant certification or active nursing student with a minimum of 6 months clinical experience required.
• Six (6) months to one (1) year nursing assistant experience required.
• One (1) to three (3) years secretarial experience preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and handle stress effectively.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrated typing skills and computer experience.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Demonstrated teamwork and professional demeanor required.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct and non-direct patient care duties including routine care and clerical tasks.
• Assist with supply and messenger responsibilities on the unit.
• Monitor patient safety, including 1:1 observation when required.
• Maintain competency in telemetry monitoring.
• Follow Nurse Manager and hospital policies and procedures.
