Job summary

Mass General Brigham’s Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Associate to provide direct and non-direct patient care. The role runs 7AM–3PM for 24 hours weekly and includes clerical, supply, and messenger duties.

The PCA may also serve as a 1:1 observer for patient safety and works under the Nurse Manager, within the hospital's policies. Requires BLS and either CNA/MA certification or nursing student status with clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Ability to perform routine patient care activities under supervision of licensed nursing personnel.
• Nursing Assistant certification, Medical Assistant certification, or nursing student with at least 6 months clinical experience required.
• Six months to one year nursing assistant experience preferred.
• One to three years secretarial experience preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to multitask and handle stress effectively.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrated typing skills and computer experience required.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of direct and non-direct patient care duties.
• Carry out clerical, supply, and messenger tasks.
• May function as a patient care observer to monitor for patient safety in situations requiring 1:1 observation.
