Job summary

Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Massachusetts seeks a Patient Care Associate (PCA) for a 16-hour-per-week day shift. The PCA provides direct and indirect patient care and performs clerical, supply, and messenger duties.

The role reports to the Nurse Manager and operates within hospital policies. Qualifications include a high school diploma, BLS certification, and either a nursing assistant or medical assistant credential, or nursing student with 6+ months clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Ability to perform routine patient care activities under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.
• Nursing Assistant certification, Medical Assistant certification, or a nursing student with a minimum of 6 months clinical experience required.
• Six (6) months to one (1) year nursing assistant experience required.
• One (1) to three (3) years secretarial experience preferred.
• Health care experience preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and handle stress crisis situations effectively required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Demonstrated typing skills and computer experience required.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient care activities under supervision.
• Handle clerical, supply, and messenger tasks as needed.
• May function as patient care observer to monitor safety when 1:1 observation is required.
