Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to support direct and indirect patient care under a Registered Nurse's supervision. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, and help maintain a safe, clean environment to foster a family-centered experience.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS certification within 30 days, and prior patient care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assists in direct patient care by providing basic physical care to promote patient comfort as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Assists all assigned patients with activities of daily living according to need in a timely manner including making all assigned beds.
• Safely transports patients to tests and procedures and escorts patients for discharge.
• Performs routine phlebotomy services, excluding line draws, in departments determined by management.
• Obtains and records vital signs and measurements according to departmental policy.
• Provides respiratory support by properly setting up equipment needed for oxygen administration.
• Assists with activities of daily living and basic rehab/Physical Therapy activities.
• Communicates with RN regarding nutrition issues and changes in patient condition.
• Maintains a clean environment and equipment; assists with routine unit operations.
• Answers phones and relays messages promptly.
