Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health Willow Park is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our team for night shifts in a small-format hospital. You will serve as a liaison between patients, payers and the hospital revenue cycle, verifying demographics, securing payments and ensuring accurate registrations.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of registration/insurance verification experience, knowledge of payer plans, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting, preferred
• Emergency Department registration experience, strongly preferred
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, required
• Basic understanding of medical terminology
• Excellent customer service
• Fluency in English; English & Spanish fluency required in El Paso market

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance and other regs
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships
• Identify and triage patient upon arrival
• Answer calls, record messages, and relay to staff
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents
• Enter complete and accurate demographics to support revenue cycle
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor and plan
• Obtain required insurance authorizations
• Pursue collections at time of service
• Scan registrations and clinical docs into the system
• Coordinate patient transfers between hospitals
• Respond to medical record requests
• Maintain cash drawer and logs
• Maintain visitor/vendor log
