Job summary

Emerus, the leader in small-format hospitals, is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for night shifts (7pm-7am) on a PRN basis in the Las Vegas area. You will verify demographics, secure payments, and maximize hospital reimbursement as a liaison among patients, payers, and care teams.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in patient registration and insurance verification, with knowledge of insurance plans and strong English communication skills; Spanish bilingualism is a plus in applicable markets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
• Fluency in English; bilingual in English & Spanish requirement in El Paso Market.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to the hospital to protect patient safety.
• Answer phones professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
