The role emphasizes excellent customer service, coordination with medical staff and payers, and adherence to privacy policies. Experience in hospital registration and bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Fluency in English and Spanish preferred; Spanish may be required in some settings.
• Two-year experience in hospital or healthcare settings, preferably in registration, billing, cash collections or insurance requirements.
• Proficiency in computers, specifically Microsoft products and email.
• Typing skills of 45 wpm or higher.
• Excellent telephone customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and verify demographic and financial information for inpatients and outpatients during registration.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, physician offices, payers and coworkers.
• Communicate financial/insurance information to case management and financial counseling staff and complete managed care notifications.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow hospital privacy and security policies.
• Enter orders when necessary and verify patient information to minimize financial risk.
