Job summary

Electrical Automation Services seeks an experienced Packaging Controls Engineer for an on-site Glendale, AZ facility. You will program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs on high-speed beverage packaging lines, serving as the on-shift controls expert to maintain uptime and drive improvements.

The role requires 4+ years in industrial automation, strong PLC/HMI/VFD expertise, and the ability to mentor maintenance staff. A 12-hour 2-2-3 night schedule applies, with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

Associate degree in engineering technology, industrial automation or related discipline.
4+ years of industrial automation or controls experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting capabilities.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
Strong communication skills across multiple plant departments.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary on-shift controls and automation expert.
Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for automated packaging equipment.
Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, instrumentation, motion-control, and industrial-network issues.
Identify recurring equipment problems and implement permanent corrective actions, including PLC and HMI changes.
Develop and execute controls projects to improve safety, quality, reliability and throughput.
Maintain PLC and HMI program backups, drawings, and change records.
Support commissioning, controls upgrades, new installations, and system integration projects.
Provide training and mentorship to maintenance technicians and operators.
