Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) to assist in patient care on the 10E Oncology/SCT unit. Reporting to the Nurse Manager and Clinical Supervisor, you will perform routine patient care tasks under RN direction.

The role emphasizes vital signs, ADL support, infection control, and accurate documentation. Night shifts with part-time hours are available, requiring compliance with hospital procedures and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be listed on the Illinois HCWR as an active CNA or be a nursing student who passed the written competency and listed on HCWR.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including vital signs and simple tests.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living using proper infection control techniques.
• Support hygiene, ambulation, and nourishment for patients.
• Collect patient specimens and assist with measurements.
• Assist with discharge and transfer preparation.
• Maintain patient environment and supplies; prepare rooms for admission and transfer.
• Document activities accurately in logs and records.
• Initiate CPR when needed and coordinate with medical team.
• Perform receptionist duties as requested.
