Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist/MLS for the WI Central Lab in Milwaukee. The role performs lab testing across multiple specialty areas in an acute setting, using both manual and automated methods, while ensuring timely and accurate results.

Responsibilities include calibration, QA/QC, specimen collection from diverse patient groups, and staff mentorship. Requires MT/MLS or AMT/ASCP certification within 1 year; bachelor's degrees specified.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• ASCP MT/MLS or AMT certification to be obtained within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory testing of biological specimens in an acute setting using manual or automated techniques.
• Monitors workflow and adjusts to complete work in a timely manner.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and follows reporting policy.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Maintains quality control and quality assurance per protocol.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Provides training and guidance to staff and students.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards including CAP requirements.
• Performs proficiency testing.
• Performs specialty testing across transfusion, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry.
• Supports critical care departments during high acuity events.
