Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to analyze patient samples and perform routine and specialized laboratory testing in a collaborative, fast-paced environment in Louisville, KY. The role requires maintaining quality assurance, operating laboratory instruments, and reporting results through the Allscripts EHR.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field, CLIA knowledge, and at least 1 year of experience, with pediatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science field or medical technology from an accredited institution, or satisfy CLIA certification standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens and perform hematology, chemistry and microbiology testing in house.
• Perform other in house tests as ordered, including urinalysis, microscopy, rapid strep screens and throat cultures.
• Communicate with reference laboratory as needed regarding specimens, procedures, supplies.
• Utilize Allscripts Electronic Health Record for reporting tests and communicating with providers.
• Maintain Quality Assurance of laboratory; ensure integrity of reagents and controls by tracking expiration dates.
