Job summary

UofL Health is hiring a Medical Technologist for the South Hospital — UMC in Shepherdsville, KY. The role involves collecting blood specimens and conducting hematology, chemistry and microbiology tests in-house, with some tests sent to a reference lab.

The candidate will maintain CLIA compliance, operate routine laboratory instruments, and report results via Allscripts EHR. A bachelor’s degree in a chemical/physical/biological science and MT certification are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science field or medical technology with CLIA certification standards.
• Certified Medical Technologist by ASCP/NCA/AMT or equivalent.
• Experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens and perform hematology, chemistry and microbiology testing in house.
• Perform tests including urinalysis, microscopy, rapid strep screens and throat cultures.
• Prepare specimens for reference laboratory and maintain instrument calibration.
