Job summary

PPG is seeking an Operational Support Engineer I to join our manufacturing team. The role focuses on conducting process audits, identifying gaps, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to drive operational excellence.

The position works a Sunday night to Thursday night shift (10:00 pm – 6:30 am) and requires collaboration with production, quality, and engineering teams to improve SOPs, training, and performance metrics.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
0–2 years of relevant experience; internship or co-op in manufacturing is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular process audits on the manufacturing floor to verify SOP/work instruction compliance.
Identify process gaps and use structured problem-solving to determine root causes.
Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to validate findings and develop corrective actions.
Monitor effectiveness of actions through follow-up audits and performance metrics.
Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, and assist in SOP/training material development.
