Job summary

Forward Air Corporation is seeking a Customer Relations Coordinator for a 100% on-site role in Des Plaines, IL. You will provide frontline customer service, coordinate shipments, and handle documentation while supporting billing and AR/AP tasks.

The position requires strong communication, detail orientation, and teamwork within a fast-paced logistics environment. Compensation is $20.00 per hour with Monday–Friday scheduling and a 10 PM–6:30 AM shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college preferred.
• Experience in customer service, admin, or logistics environments preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a customer-focused approach.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• On-site, 100% on-site role with travel for related meetings/events.

Responsibilities

• Serve as central contact for customers, carriers, drivers, and internal teams by phone, email, and in person.
• Provide front-line customer service with shipment status updates and documentation requests.
• Perform accurate data entry for shipments and operational records.
• Track and trace shipments using internal systems and carrier platforms.
• Coordinate scheduling for pickups, deliveries, and appointments.
• Prepare shipping documents such as air waybills, bills of lading, labels, and POD.
• Support terminal activities including freight acceptance and driver assistance.
• Assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing tasks.
• Maintain organized files for shipment and financial documentation.
• Communicate with carriers and internal teams to ensure timely freight movement.
• Identify routine issues and elevate to operations leadership.
• Participate in training, meetings, and process improvement activities.
• All other duties as assigned.
