Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine in Durham, CA seeks a Laboratory Assistant to support clinical testing and specimen handling on an evening schedule. The role requires basic lab skills, accuracy in data entry, and adherence to SOPs under supervision.

You will assist in QC checks, instrument calibration, and training of new staff while ensuring timely reporting of results and compliance with CLIA requirements. Onsite position with occasional coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for moderate complexity testing.
• Experience in a clinical environment with data processing and specimen handling.
• English reading/writing and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs CLIA classified moderately complex laboratory testing under supervision.
• Records results in LIS and follows SOPs.
• Responds to STAT/Emergency requests and prioritizes work.
• Calibrates pipettes and thermometers per SOPs.
• Prepares reagents/controls for testing.
• Prepares and collects specimens with accurate labeling.
• Maintains supplies and notifies supervisor of shortages.
• Provides training to new staff and participates in CSI.
