Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine in Allentown, PA seeks a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician for the evening shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM), including every other weekend and rotating holidays. The role performs high and moderate complexity testing with independent judgment and minimal supervision.

You will support physicians in interpretation, ensure quality control, and participate in CSI and training of new staff while handling specimens and maintaining compliance with SOPs.

Qualifications

• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for high complexity testing.
• Associate’s degree in MLT program from an accredited institution required.
• Ability to read and interpret scientific and technical material; communicate with healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Perform high, moderate, or waived laboratory testing with independent judgment per SOPs.
• Recognize and correct instrument malfunctions; document troubleshooting.
• Confirm, verify and report test results; monitor for reasonableness and critical values.
• Correlate and interpret data; assist physicians with result interpretation.
• Conduct quality control and performance improvement activities.
• Provide orientation and training to new staff/students.
• Prepare and collect specimens for analysis.
• Participate in CSI and continuing education programs.
• Perform competency for high complexity testing as delegated.
