Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine is seeking qualified personnel to perform CLIA moderately complex testing under supervision and manage specimen handling with precise documentation. The role involves instrument troubleshooting, calibration of pipettes/thermometers, and preparing reagents for analysis.

The position requires English proficiency, a health/medical assistant training background, and at least two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; Two years in a clinical environment with data processing/specimen handling experience.
• A.S degree preferred or equivalent demonstration of education and experience.
• Graduate of heath/ medical assistant or similar training program from an accredited institution where general laboratory technique is taught.
• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for moderate complexity testing.

Responsibilities

• Performs CLIA classified moderately complex laboratory testing under direct supervision of a technologist.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions and documents troubleshooting activities.
• Prioritizes/reorganizes work to respond to STAT/Emergency requests.
• Follows SOPs for specimen handling and abnormal values and communicates to customers.
• Calibrates pipettes and thermometers and records data per SOPs.
• Prepares reagents/controls for testing and collects specimens for analysis with accurate labeling.
• Maintains adequate supplies and restocks or notifies supervisor of shortages.
• Provides clinical orientation and training of new employees and students.
• Coordinates paperwork with LVHN and vendors for legal cases.
